The easiest way to defeat Dark Link is with the Megaton Hammer, as Dark Link cannot block or mimic its attack. This strategy requires you to slash him once with your sword at the very beginning of the fight.
Why is Dark Link in the Water Temple?
Water, as Sheik described, is about reflection. Dark Link is simply a reflection of Link, corrupted much like the temple itself was. Given what’s usually caused (and explained) about the appearance of Dark Link, it’s because there is a distinct lack of one for OoT that it’s found to be out of place.
