Can undocumented students get financial aid?

No. Undocumented students, including DACA students, are not eligible for federal student aid. However, you may be eligible for state or college financial aid, in addition to private scholarships.

Can dreamers apply for scholarships?

Yes and no. DACA recipients cannot receive federal financial aid, including the Pell Grant and federal student loans. DACA students can apply for and receive certain private scholarships.

Are there any scholarships for undocumented college students?

Not all scholarships will explicitly call for “undocumented” students – they may require students to have a specific status such as DACA, AB 540, etc. Some scholarships may not even ask about immigration status or citizenship, so you may qualify for those scholarships if you are currently undocumented.
