How do I prepare for the NBT test?
There are no past papers or special study materials to prepare for the tests. The NBT assesses your prior knowledge – what you know and what you are able to do. Go to the NBT website to find out what is covered in the tests. Even if you’re applying to more than one university, you need only write the tests once.
How many questions does the NBT have?

Why Grade 12 should write NBT as soon as possible?
The NBTs help to interpret your NSC results and can be used by universities in different ways. Some use them to help make decisions about your access/application to university. This means that your NBT results, in combination with your matric results, are used to determine whether you are ready for academic study.
Can you use a calculator in NBT?
You are not allowed a calculator during the Maths test, so make sure you know how to do the simpler calculations without one. Don’t worry: the questions are asked in such a way that a calculator is not necessary. A formula sheet and paper for working out is provided.
Can NBT be written online?
The NBT Online test is undertaken in a secure proctored online environment. You will be monitored throughout the test to ensure that you follow all testing procedures. Your entire test session will be recorded. Writers are required to comply with all test rules and requirements to avoid the invalidation of your test.

Can I write NBT twice?
The NBT Project allows an individual to write the NBT twice. Note that you must pay the total fee both times. If you write the MAT test a second time, you must also write the AQL test a second time that morning. You must first check with the institutions where you are applying; not all will accept a second score.
