Trimoxi is a major breakthrough in reducing patient cost, inconvenience and post-operative complications. Trimoxi is a combination of steroid (triamcinolone) and antibiotic (moxifloxacin) that is placed into the vitreous after the IOL is inserted.

If someone didn’t use their eye drops the best-case scenario would be that their eyes would take longer to heal, and may develop some scarring tissue. The worst-case scenario would be an infection – one that could end in loss of eyesight if not caught quickly.

What is Intracameral?

An intracameral injection is usually of an antibiotic into the anterior chamber of the eyeball to prevent endophthalmitis caused by an infection of the eye that can occur after cataract surgery. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not approved antibiotics for this use and it is considered ‘off-label’.

What is Intracameral anesthesia?

Intracameral anesthesia is a promising new technique for ocular lidocaine administration. When local anesthetics such as lidocaine are placed near the nerve tissue, they penetrate the nerve sheath and block initiation and propagation of nerve impulses by decreasing the neuronal membrane permeability to sodium ions.

Can cataracts go away naturally?

The short answer is no; there is no natural cure to reverse cataracts nor have any studies proven that there is an effective, non-surgical method to slow the progression of cataracts. However, this shouldn’t strike you as alarming or even disappointing.

How long can you wait for cataract surgery?

What kind of injection is used for trimoxi?

It is a compounded injection that consists of Triamcinolone and Moxifloxacin. The surgeon will inject the Trimoxi through the pars plana into the vitreous.

How much does it cost to get trimoxi drops?

Though the company hasn’t established prices for the formulation yet, physicians in one of the states served by Pharmacy Creations can currently get a TriMoxi compound from the pharmacy for $40 and a TriMoxiVanc for $45, with a prescription.

When to use trimoxi drops after cataract surgery?

Patients will use these drops on night of surgery and will continue for 2 weeks post-operatively, at the frequency of three times a day. Patients allergic to any component of Trimoxi can still use Trimoxi as the effect of the medication is confined to the eye.
