On behalf of the NFWI Board of Trustees, it is with great sadness that we announce our proposal to close Denman permanently. We appreciate this will be difficult news for you, as it is for the NFWI Trustees and our staff.
When did Denman College close?
Closure. In July 2020 the trustees announced that they could no longer afford to run Denman at a loss, and proposed its permanent closure.
Is Denman College on the market?
Denman is a restricted fund of NFWI and operates as a separate charitable entity. It has always been the NFWI model to ensure that membership subscriptions are not used to fund Denman College. The College operates commercially and therefore in order to be successful it needs to at least break even.

Most of Denman’s employees were put on furlough to reduce running costs and minimise losses during the pandemic. For more than 70 years the college has provided what it calls a ‘safe haven’ for women and men to learn new skills through the 65 courses on offer.
