March is Music In Our Schools Month®! Our friends at the National Association for Music Education are back to celebrate the 36th year of MIOSM®.
When did music in Our schools Month start?
MIOSM® began as a single statewide advocacy day and celebration in New York in 1973 and grew over the decades to become a monthlong, nationwide celebration of school music in 1985.
Why do we celebrate music in Our schools Month?
The purpose of MIOSM is to raise awareness of the importance of music education for all children – and to remind citizens that school is where all children should have access to music.
