The Pecolift and Ecolift are game-changing access platforms, created as an alternative to ladders, for making work up to 4.2m (low-level access), simple, secure and comfortable. You can adjust the platform to the desired height without the need to climb.

Do you need training to use a Pecolift?
Yes, you need training, and there is a half-day course for this. If you have a valid licence with Static Vertical (1a) or Mobile Vertical (3a), you will only require familiarisation on the machine, which should be recorded in your IPAF log book.
What must Mewps be fitted with?
Ensure that the ground is suitable for MEWP operation. It should be in good condition, flat and able to withstand the applied pressure of the platform. Any outriggers being used must be extended and grounded before work commences. Effective guardrails must be fitted to the platform.
Do I need a licence for a MEWP?
Does a passenger in a MEWP require a licence before they can go in a MEWP? No, only the operator requires a licence. However, the passenger will be required to wear the correct PPE.
Do you need a Banksman when using a scissor lift?
Usually, in a Scissor Lift, there is no requirement to wear the harness/lanyard unless the site rule states differently. 2) Also does everyone who works at height in the MEWP require IPAF training or just the operator advise please.
Do you need a licence to drive a MEWP?
MEWP operators should have attended a recognised operator training course and received a certificate, card or ‘licence’, listing the categories of MEWP the bearer is trained to operate.
Can a MEWP be operated from the ground?
Ground conditions: The platform should be used on firm and level ground. Any temporary covers should be strong enough to withstand the applied pressure. Localised ground features, eg trenches, manholes and uncompacted backfill, can all lead to overturning.

Do you need a lifting plan for a scissor lift?
For MEWPS which are designed to lift people ie a cherry picker or scissor lift, there is normally no need for a lift plan because the work should be covered by a SSoW (Method Statement or similar).
Can you fail IPAF course?
What happens if I fail? Based on IPAF’s instructions, you are able to retake the training and the test the following day after you fail. However it might be helpful for you to discuss with your manager and trainers why you failed, in case there is anything you should do to improve your chances the next time.
