U-Pass BC is a student transit program offered in partnership by the BCIT Student Association, Translink, the Province of British Columbia and BCIT. U-Pass BC enables eligible students to receive a three-zone pass valid for all TransLink Bus, SkyTrain and SeaBus services throughout Metro Vancouver.
How does U-Pass BC work?
A U-Pass BC gives students access to bus, SeaBus and SkyTrain services within Metro Vancouver, as well as discounts on West Coast Express. All eligible students pay for their U-Pass BC as part of their student fees. By having everyone contribute to the program, the cost per student is significantly lower.
Can I opt out of UPass?
Students who wish to opt-out of the program and receive a refund of their U-Pass fee must complete the form available at Parking and Transportation Services, and submit it to our service counter (H100) before the posted deadline.
Is UPass tax deductible?
Payments made directly to a university, such as the U-Pass program, are also eligible. Finally, because the credit will be eliminated as of June 2017, your passes must have been used between January 1, 2017, and June 30, 2017. That means passes used after June 30th are not deductible on your tax return.
