Does Dylon ruin your washing machine?
DYLON will not harm your washing machine. Due to the fact that DYLON is a dye, slight staining of rubber parts e.g. seals is possible. The staining will not affect following washing loads. Traces of dye on the rubber seal can be removed by wiping with a small amount of bleach on an old cloth.

How do you use Dylon in a washing machine?
Place the damp clothes in the washing machine and pop the unwrapped and opened DYLON Machine Dye pod directly on top. Set the machine to a full 40° C cycle. Don’t use the economy or pre-wash options. Run the same cycle again, this time adding washing detergent to rinse the dye out.

You need to use salt with all Dylon dyes except Wash & Dye and Machine Dye with Salt (salt is already included in the both products) because it opens up the pores of the fabric and allows the dye to be absorbed properly.

How do you use Dylon dye by hand?
Instructions For Dyeing By Hand:
- Weigh dry fabric.
- Using rubber gloves, dissolve dye in 500ml warm water.
- Fill bowl/stainless steel sink with approx 6 litres warm water (40°C).
- Stir in 250g (5tbsp) salt.
- Submerge fabric in water.
- Stir for 15mins, then stir regularly for 45mins.
- Rinse fabric in cold water.
Can you use Dylon wash and dye by hand?
Dylon used to do small packs or tins of hand wash dye. Absolutely not – this is only for washing machine use – you can buy Dylon hand dyes and they are great but don’t try hand-dying with anything else! The dye pods are great but the colours are less strong than the classic machine or hand dyes but easier to use!
What can I use to dye something black?
