In 1972, Bob Trinchero experimented with a winemaking technique called “saignée,” draining some of the free-run juice from Zinfandel skins to create a concentrated, robust Amador County Zinfandel. The runoff Zinfandel juice was then fermented to dryness, creating Sutter Home’s first vintage of White Zinfandel.
