Why is it called Unova?
Etymology. Unova’s Japanese name, イッシュ Isshu, is derived from the Japanese word for “one variety”, 一種 isshu, or １種類 isshurui. According to the game director Masuda, this is to express that although the region is diverse in species and race, they are all the same as living creatures when seen from a distance.

Is Unova America?

Are there any Legendary Pokemon in the Unova region?
Legendary Pokémon Reshiram and Zekrom, two Legendary Pokémon from Unova, play a major role in the region’s mythology. They were once said to be a single Dragon-type Pokémon, but legend has it that this dragon split into two when the twin heroes who brought Unova into being couldn’t agree whether to pursue truth or ideals.
