What is black top engine?
A Blacktop engine is an interference engine unlike all other A series engines. Although the pistons are initially interchangeable physically they aren’t practically as a Silvertop with Blacktop pistons has a very high compression and quite low when the combination is reversed.
Does 4AGE have VVT?
Brand new genuine VVT solenoid. These solenoids receive a constant 12V and are switched on when the ECU grounds the other pin. Early Silvertops only turned VVT on above 4,000 RPM and later Silvertop and all blacktop turned on between 2,300 RPM and 6,600 RPM depending on load.
Is 4A-GE carbureted?
The fuel injected 4A-FE is the successor of the carbureted 4A-F. It was manufactured between 1987–2001. Toyota designed this engine with fuel economy in mind. The second generation engine was produced from 1992–1998 (1993–1996 in the US).
What cars use 4age engine?
The 4A-GE engine was first introduced in the 1983 Sprinter Trueno AE86 and the Corolla Levin AE86. The AE86 marked the end of the 4A-GE as a rear wheel drive (RWD or FR) mounted engine.
What is VVT pulley?
VVT system (Variable Valve Timing) allows to discrete change the valve timing according to engine operating conditions. This is achieved by rotating the intake camshaft relative to the drive pulley for 30° (crankshaft rotation angle).
Are 4AGE engines good?
The 4AGE is a great engine. You’ll still get at least 30 mpg, which definitely isn’t bad, but the engine alone is not so finicky as to be unable to be driven on the road… remember, in Japan these engines came in a lot of daily driver cars.
Why do bike engines use carbs?
CV carbs use a funnel-shaped venturi to change the air pressure that passes through the carb. This means that rather relying on the pumping action of a normal carb, bike carbs provide a constant and continuous supply of fuel at all times which gives better and smoother drivability and an increased throttle response.
What are the different types of 4AGE engines?
To start with, there are basically four types of 4AGE engine – – The ‘big port’ TVIS head version. – The ‘small port’ non-TVIS version. – The 20 valve versions. – The supercharged versions.
What kind of supercharger does a 4A GZE have?
Cut-out of the Toyota SC12 supercharger that is used on the 4A-GZE. As with the 4A-GE, the 4A-GZE was further developed during its lifespan to make it more efficient.
When did the 4AGE come out in the UK?
The 4AGZE was also available from around 1988, this model was supercharged, it had no colour whatsoever on the cam cover, and this engine wasn’t available in the UK In 1989 the 16V 4AGE model which also had a silver cam cover with red letters and many changes to the internals.
