As stated in the title of this thread Cobb added an “auto shutoff” feature with the latest firmware 1.7. 1.1-9728. It adds an option under the setup menu to automatically shut off the accessPort when the engine is powered down as well as to shut down the AccessPort if there is a low voltage dip detected.

For the FA values -16 to +16 are acceptable (sourced by speaking to Ian at Maperformance who spoke with cobb), however values of -8 to +8 may be considered normal.
How do I get my Accessport out of recovery mode?
When your Accessport is in Recovery mode you will typically only have two options, Uninstall (or recover depending on vehicle family) and troubleshooting. Once you follow the instructions to make sure your vehicle is properly prepped to be flashed, select Uninstall and follow the on-screen prompts.
Do you have to keep Accessport plugged in?
The Accessport does not need to be plugged into the vehicle for the calibration to be in effect. Please note that the Accessport is designed to work with only one vehicle at a time. Once the Accessport is installed, it cannot be used with another vehicle until it is uninstalled from the original vehicle.

Kinks in the chord or torn/melted insulation is an often overlooked sign of larger problems. It can also mean that getting a new cable is a simple fix for the problem. Keep in mind that similar damage or corrosion may occur on the OBDII pins/wiring under the dash. So make sure to inspect that as well.
