Can you use embossing powder with stencils?

Heat embossing can be easily be combined with stencils to great stunning designs that can set your cards off. Whether you use the stencil for the whole card or use small elements of a stencil design on your cards, you can combine it with a whole range of powders for many different looks.

What is embossing ink used for?

Embossing ink is used with embossing powder to make a raised, textured design. People can apply the ink with a stamp or by hand, depending on their needs. The ink is usually clear, so that it will not react with the powders sprinkled onto it. It also dries slowly, allowing crafters plenty of time to apply powder.

What is the difference between engraved and embossed?

The engraving process differs from the embossing. Instead of a die set pressing a design into the material, engraving uses a tool or laser to directly cut a design in the metal. Embossed tags are limited to a single custom die set produced.

Do you need special ink for embossing powder?

A juicy ink pad You need the embossing powder to stick to the inked image before heating it, so you’ll want an ink pad that dries slowly. Pigment ink works well. You can also use a special embossing ink pad or a VersaMark ink pad.

What can I use instead of an embossing pen?

A ball point pen will work. If you can, take out the ink from the pen first, or you will end up with pen marks on the back of your paper. I have also used a toothpick in a pinch. You have to be really careful with this one so that you don’t poke a hole in your paper.
