The Contemporary is one of our favorite Disney resorts for its relaxed atmosphere and proximity to Magic Kingdom.
Can you walk to Magic Kingdom from Bay Lake Tower?
Location unquestionably is the best part of staying at Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. To get to the Magic Kingdom, you can just walk or take the monorail from the Contemporary Resort located next door (and connected via a bridge).
Can anyone stay at Bay Lake Tower?
No, you can book a room with cash at Bay Lake Tower. There are only so many rooms that Disney is allowed to book – the rest of the inventory is for DVC members. The Disney website has pictures of the different rooms at both resorts. Either place is a great location with the convenience of the monorail.

Simply request bed rails upon check-in at Bay Lake Towers at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. In terms of cribs, you can request one at arrival or call the hotel before your stay to add it to your reservation. Most of the “cribs” are standard size Pack n’ Plays, but some larger cribs are available.

The lagoon reaches a depth of 14 feet and connects to the adjacent Bay Lake. When it was first opened to the public, swimming was allowed but has been since prohibited. There are ‘no swimming’ signs posted at the lagoon.

Magic Kingdom – The quickest and easiest way is to walk. There is a path from Bay Lake Tower and it’s about a 10 minute walk. You can also take the Monorail from the Contemporary 4th Floor. Keep in mind, the Magic Kingdom is the 4th stop so it could take upwards of 30 minutes to get there.
