Top Tips. For screw in points, use exactly the same method, just gluing the insert only. (Use a low-strength adhesive or screw the point in through plastic wrap from the kitchen to keep it tight.) To remove a point, heat the tip very gently until the glue around it melts – and you can pull it out with a pair of pliers.

Having the field point in the insert creates just enough air pressure inside to want to push the inserts back out when you let go. If you take the nocks out, the air can’t compress. A trick I learned many years ago while making target arrows with glue-in Nibb points.

The stick I use is designed for inserts and has a clear brown look to it. I just melt the tip, roll the insert on the melted part and push the insert in until flush. Then wipe the excess off with a paper towel or a rag. Sets and cools pretty quick. I can’t offer the specifics of why but regular super glue is very brittle.
