An excellent product that does what it says – and is especially good at killing moss and lichen. Brilliant on some exposed paving and just as good on moss between plants.
Is Armillatox still available?
Armillatox is still with us, as is Jeyes Fluid. Neither is licensed to be sold as a pesticide, but can be used (with care) for cleaning, sterilisation and disinfection of greenhouses, pots and patios.
Does Armillatox kill grass?
Up until recently, I have used Armillatox as a product for “cleaning” moss from hard surfaces. Essentially, all you do is water it on and forget it; and it dies very quickly. As an aside, it has no harmful effect on any nearby grassed or planted areas (in fact it very effectively gets rid of moss there too).

They are similar but not the same. If you look up the Manufacturers’ Safety Data Sheets says Armillatox is up to 30% castor oil soap and up to 30% high boiling tar acids. Jeyes Fluid is 29-32% Cresyllic creosote, 11-13% Tall Oil, 6-8% HBTA and 7-9% methylated spirits.
