The bands are reusable, but their shelf life is finite. (Disney estimates that they’ll last for two years.) The tiny batteries housed in the bands are neither replaceable nor rechargeable, meaning that once they run out of juice, they’re toast.
How do I keep my MagicBand from falling off?
Simply unscrew the icon with the included screwdriver, pop it into the key ring or carabiner, and secure with the screws. This way you can wear the MagicBand 2 securely on your belt loop or hang it from a lanyard, necklace, etc. These are available in shops throughout the Walt Disney World Resort and on ShopDisney.com.
Are MagicBands still free?
While Magic Bands are still available at Disney World, they are no longer included for free with the cost of a resort stay. Increasingly, they aren’t even needed as your phone or Apple Watch can now do many of those same functions — and more — without having to wear a just-for-Disney wrist accessory.

In my family’s experience, the MagicBands stay securely on our wrists through pretty much all conditions, so I don’t think it’s necessary to buy an additional gadget (unless you like the look!). If something quirky happens and you do lose a MagicBand, hakuna matata, Debbie. No worries!
Is Disney MagicBands worth it?
The short answer is, “No.” You do not NEED a MagicBand. Without a MagicBand, you will simply use your RFID-enabled ticket card for all of the functions a MagicBand will otherwise do. You do not need MagicBands in order to make and redeem FastPass+ reservations. You can use your ticket for FastPass+.
