Velanna is just gone. This occurs even if the walls are never breached. If the Warden chooses to save Vigil’s Keep, Velanna survives, though she does not return to her clan. Thanks to her friendship with the Warden Commander, she may eventually change her views on humankind.

When the call came for volunteers to help rebuild the order in the Arling of Amaranthine, Mhairi jumped at the chance to join.

During the defense of Vigil’s Keep, Mhairi and the Warden-Commander encounter her friend, Rowland, a fellow knight from Denerim who is also a Warden-Recruit. Rowland has already been fatally wounded however and dies from the darkspawn taint.

Mhairi swears to avenge his death. Despite her enthusiasm for the Wardens, Mhairi does not survive the Joining ritual. Fellow Warden Nolan, who undertook the Joining a week after her, wrote down her name in his list of Wardens who didn’t survive the Joining as a way to honor and remember her.
