How often can you use NovoRapid?
NovoRapid is normally used in combination with an intermediate- or long-acting insulin given at least once a day. The patient’s blood glucose (sugar) should be tested regularly to find the lowest effective dose. The usual dose is between 0.5 and 1.0 units per kilogram body weight per day.
When should NovoRapid be injected?
NovoRapid® is generally taken immediately before a meal. Eat a meal or snack within 10 minutes of the injection to avoid low blood sugar. When necessary, NovoRapid® can be given soon after a meal. See How and where to inject below for information.
How long does NovoRapid last?
NovoRapid® will start to lower your blood sugar 10-20 minutes after you take it, it has a maximum effect between 1 and 3 hours and the effects last for 3-5 hours. Due to this short action NovoRapid® should normally be taken in combination with intermediate-acting or long-acting insulin preparations.
