Is Floramax a good substrate?
Is Floramax a good substrate?
Flora Max is certainly a substrate that shines in a tank with more than just fish. The consistency is another reason why Flora Max is so good for plant growth, as the uniform nature of every particle forms a very consistent base at the bottom of your tank for the plant-life to establish their roots and grow.
What is Floramax made of?
Floramax is essentially a gravel/laterite mix with less available nutrients (from what I understand).
Is Floramax safe for shrimp?
The substrate is fine with shrimp.
How long does Caribsea eco complete last?
These substrates haven’t been around long enough to tell for sure, but from early indications, they might have a lifespan of over 100 years. As long as the water column has some nutrients, plants will do fine without root tabs and sticks.
Do you rinse Flora Max?
Very Excellent. This substrate is very fine, but with enough tooth to anchor the plants with. It needs to be rinsed just a little, but it does come with a clarifying tablet.

Do you have to replace CaribSea eco complete?
No it never needs to be changed out, it would be like gravel or sand but with the benefit of channeling nutrients to your plants roots. I will not go back to gravel or sand after using Eco -Complete. Also don’t rinse it, it comes with beneficial bacteria in the water, you want to keep that.
Do you need to vacuum eco complete?
You don’t need to vacuum the substrate in planted tank. If you dose fertilizer, it’s better to do more than 20% weekly. I usually do 40-50%.
