Is GAWS open to the public?
The GAWS vet clinic remains open to our community. Masks are required at all times (unless an exemption applies). Upon arrival, report to reception with your animal and sign in via the Victorian Government QR code.
What can I donate to GAWS?
You can donate towels, blankets, scratching posts, treats and pet food. You may also donate unwanted clothing to be sold in the GAWS Op Shop & Recycled Fashion & Homewares store.
Do GAWS accept pillows?
GAWS is unable to take donations of doonas, pillows, cushions, underlays and sheets, as they are not able to use these.
What do you do with used Doonas?
- Gather it together. Bundle up your unwanted goods and put them in a bag for us.
- Drive to your nearest RSPCA NSW shelter or Care Centre. Most shelters and Care Centres will accept your donation at the front desk and pass them on to the relevant teams.
- Or, send your items in the mail.
- Tell your friends and family.

To be eligible to become a volunteer at GAWS, you must: Be 18 years or older or 16 if completing hours as part of a tertiary educational program. Willing to undertake a National Volunteer Police Check, provide a Working With Children check (if applicable), or equivalent.

The Op Shop is operated by our volunteers and sells quality products. All profits generated from the GAWS Op Shop help support our non-government funded animal shelter. If you have any great quality unwanted clothing items in excellent condition, please consider donating them to the GAWS Recycled Fashion & Homewares store.

Animals are checked over by a vet, vaccinated, desexed, microchipped and given any treatments they may need.
