The nine zones:

  • Inside and Low (lower portion of the strike zone)
  • Inside (middle of the strike zone)
  • Inside (upper portion of the strike zone)
  • Middle of the plate/Low.
  • Middle of the plate!
  • Middle of the plate/Up.
  • Outside/Low.
  • Outside/Middle.

Where do you aim pitches?

Watching baseball on TV I’ve only seen pitchers aim for 3 locations: low-inside, low-outside, and high-inside. Occasionally the catcher will set up for something low and over the plate, or up high abive the strike to get the batter to chase a fastball.

How many pitches should a 12u pitcher have?

Why is a strike called a strike?

Originally, the word “strike” was used literally: the batter striking at the ball in an effort to hit it. The first rule leading to the creation of a defined strike zone was enacted by the American Association before the 1886 season: “The ball must be delivered at the height called for by the batsman.

How are pitchers so accurate?

The key to good pitching accuracy is repeatable mechanics. Being able to reproduce good mechanics every pitch is what makes a pitcher accurate. If a pitcher uses different pitching mechanics each pitch, he won’t find much success with his accuracy.

Do you aim when you pitch?

During that workout you should practice pitches with different counts on the batter. You should practice missing the plate as much as hitting the corners. Finally every throw should be free and loose. You should never aim the ball but always stay loose and let it fly toward the target.
