What are the requirements for the Tennessee Promise?
In order to keep Tennessee Promise, students must meet all deadlines and requirements, including the following:
- Maintain full-time enrollment with a minimum of 12 hours per semester.
- Maintain a 2.0 GPA.
- Complete eight hours of community service prior to each semester of enrollment.
What is tnAchieves?
tnAchieves is the partnering organization to the TN Promise Scholarship in 90 of the 95 counties in Tennessee. Our mission is to increase higher education opportunities for Tennessee high school students by providing last-dollar scholarships with mentor guidance.
How many hours of community service do you need for TN promise?

Tennessee Promise Community Service In order to remain eligible for the scholarship, one requirement is to complete eight hours of community service prior to each semester of enrollment.
Is community service required for TN promise?
Tennessee Promise (TN Promise) Community Service A Tennessee Promise student beginning or continuing enrollment at an eligible institution for the spring 2021 term will not be required to complete and submit community service to maintain eligibility.
What ACT score do you need for Tennessee Promise?

The target population for the Tennessee Promise grants will likely be those high school graduates who are not academically eligible (3.0 cumulative grade point average in high school or a 21 ACT score) for the HOPE scholarship and also do not qualify for substantial PELL grants.
Does TN promise pay for housing?
FACT: The Tennessee Promise Scholarship covers tuition and limited fees. You are required to pay for housing, food, transportation, books, equipment, and other college expenses.
How often should you check tnAchieves connect to keep in touch with your mentor?
Learn more about tnAchieves CONNECT on pages 6 and 7. Stay in communication with your tnAchieves mentor. See pages 11-13 to learn more about your mentor and his/her role. Check your email every Monday for weekly updates from tnAchieves.
What is counted as community service?
For activities to qualify as community service they should: Be for the benefit of others; Give service in an area of need; However, activities that attract a small honorarium and fulfil the other criteria are still considered community service.
How do you submit hours to TN promise?
Contact [email protected] for specific deadlines. ***Class of 2021 high school seniors can begin working on their first 8 hours on November 3, 2020 which is the day after the TN Promise application closes.
Is the Hope Scholarship the same as TN Promise?
The Tennessee Promise Scholarship covers the full tuition for an associate’s degree at certain eligible schools including community colleges, colleges of applied technology, and select private or public universities. The Tennessee Hope Scholarship is what you would think of as a typical scholarship.
Do you have to apply for TN Promise every year?
To receive Tennessee Promise, a student must: Apply senior year and meet established application deadlines. (A student may begin at his/her postsecondary institution in the spring or summer directly following high school graduation; however, the student will be responsible for incurred tuition and fees until fall.)
