What is ConFlat flange?

What is ConFlat flange?

CF-style vacuum flanges and fittings are the standard for ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) applications. Also know as ConFlat flanges, they use a copper flat gasket placed between two knife edges to provide an extremely leak-tight vacuum seal.

What is ConFlat gasket?

ConFlat (CF) fittings are flanges which utilize metal seals to attain vacuum conditions. The combination of a stainless-steel knife-edge flange and a copper gasket (OFHC) makes for a nearly impenetrable vacuum barrier. Depending on the application, CF fittings can be supplied with both through-bolt and threaded holes.

What is a Kwik flange?

Kwik-Flange® NW vacuum flanges are an economical system of reusable interfacing stainless steel vacuum fittings and components for 1/2”, 3/4”, 1”, 1-1/2”, and 2” OD tubing. Assemblies are usable to 10-8 Torr. Kwik-Flange® is ideal for vacuum systems requiring rapid and frequent assembly and disassembly.

What is ISO-KF?

The ISO-KF system is a family of small vacuum components up to 2” that include flanges, elbows, tees and crosses. The International Standards Organization (ISO) defines the interface dimensions, allowing the interchanging of components that conform to the standard’s dimensions.

What is KF25?

KF HV flanges (Figure 1) are a sexless design—made from 304L or 316L stainless, aluminum, or brass. The seal is a rubber/ elastomeric o-ring mounted in a centering ring, which aligns the flanges and holds the o-ring in position.

What do you need to know about ConFlat flanges?

ConFlat® (CF) Flange Technical Notes We manufacture a comprehensive range of flanges and flanged components such as nipples, elbows, tees, and crosses in all standard vacuum flange systems. In addition, we supply a variety of hardware and components.

What’s the pressure of a Conflat vacuum seal?

The knife edge cuts into the softer copper gasket to form a leak tight metal-to-metal seal. Deformation of the metal gasket fills small defects in the flange, allowing ConFlat flanges to operate down to 10−13 Torr (10−11 Pa) pressure. Bake-out of the Flange can be up to 450°C.

What are the different types of vacuum flanges?

The vacuum equipment industry adheres to the de-facto ConFlat standard. ConFlat flanges are offered in four versions: Fixed flange (Figure 2): is a one piece design where the bolt-hole orientation is fixed with respect to that fitting. Rotatable flange (Figure 3): is comprised of two parts, an inner weld ring and outer bolt ring.

What is the difference between wire seal and CF flanges?

CF and wire seal flanges are part of the same family of ultra high vacuum components that compress a copper gasket between two stainless steel flanges to create a vacuum tight seal. The CF flange system is more commonly used within the vacuum industry and as such has a much larger standard product offering and faster delivery.
