What is DNA zap?

What is DNA zap?

Description. DNAZap™ Solutions are two solutions that are innocuous when used alone, but become a potent nucleic acid degrading reagent when mixed. This mixture is able to instantaneously degrade high levels of contaminating DNA and RNA from surfaces.

How does DNA Zap work?

DNAZap consists of two solutions, each of which alone is inefficient in degrading nucleic acids. Combining the two solutions generates a short-lived, potent, nucleic acid-degrading mixture, quickly degrading high levels of contaminating DNA and RNA.

How to use DNAZap?

Using DNAZap™ Solutions Treat the surface to be cleaned with Solution 1 and then immediately apply Solution 2 over Solution 1. Rinse thoroughly with distilled water to remove any degraded nucleic acid and DNAZap™ mixture residue that might be inhibitory to enzymatic reactions. Do not re-use the Solutions.

Does rnase zap remove DNA?

RNaseZap is composed of 1-5% SDS (5% probably), Sodium dichloroisocyanurate (0.5-1%) and (took a bit of digging) NaOH (?% , SDS states pH 7-8.5). Sodium dichloroisocyanurate is the interesting ingredient here, which in water will form hypochlorus acid (bleaching agent) that will destroy proteins, DNA and RNA.

Does RNase zap remove DNA?

How long does RNase ZAP last?

Storage and Stability: Store RNaseZap at room temperature. RNaseZap is stable for 6 months from the date received. Safety: If contact with eyes occurs, immediately flush with water and call physician.

Does bleach deactivate RNase?

It turns out, the active component of bleach, sodium hypochlorite (approx. 6%), can denature proteins through oxidation. Now, this property has been put to good use against RNAses by incorporating a small amount of bleach into the agarose gel before melting and casting.

How do we use DNA away?

Recommendations

  1. Suitable for gel boxes, pipettes, benchtops, thermal cyclers, or other apparatus.
  2. Use before performing PCR or working with DNA for a DNA-free work area.
  3. Simply apply the ready-to-use formula to the surface to decontaminate, then wipe dry or rinse clean.

Does RNase away degrade RNA?

Conditions for RNase digestion The protein concentration of RNase, DNase-free is 0.5 μg/μL The specific activity of the enzyme is 30 U/mg, corresponding to 1.5 mU/μL; one microliter of the RNase preparation is sufficient to completely degrade 15 μg RNA in 30 min.
