What is FPM gasket material?
What is FPM gasket material?
FPM is the ISO designation, FKM is the ASTM designation. Viton®, Dai-El and Technoflon are brands for FPM polymers. All of the designations stand for one single base material, which is fluoro rubber. This rubber is used in applications that need O-rings that are resistant to high temperatures and chemical attacks.
What is EPDM seal material?
EPDM stands for Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer, a synthetic rubber used in a range of applications. EPDM is used most commonly used in the automotive and construction industries for various seals due to its excellent resistance to environmental factors such as Ozone, UV and general weathering.
Is FPM FDA approved?
The only difference to DMH FPM 350 can be found in a slightly softer material. It is FDA – CFR 21.177. 2600 compliant and also meets 3A Sanitary standard 18-03, thus it is suitable for the food and beverage industry.
What is NBR seat material?
BUNA-N (NBR) is a general purpose polymer with good resistance to oil, water, solvents and hydraulic fluids. With good compression, strength and abrasion-resistance, NBR performs well with diverse media such as oils, alcohols, fatty acids, inert gasses or compressed air.
Is FPM same as FKM?
So what’s the difference between FPM and FKM? FPM is the international designation to ISO – whereas FKM is the ASTM abbreviation. Both of these designations stand for the same base material : Fluoro Rubber.
Does EPDM melt?
The thermal behavior of an EPDM rubber mixture was measured between –125°C and 160°C at 10 K/min. The melting above the glass transition (peak temperature at 31.4°C) is typical for the behavior of a sequence-type EPDM.
Where is EPDM used?
EPDM rubber is a type of synthetic rubber. It is extremely durable and flexible and therefore has a wide range of applications, including in vehicles (where it is used for window and door seals, as well as cooling system hoses), cold-rooms, non-slip coatings for decks and playgrounds and many others besides.

What’s the difference between EPDM rubber and FKM rubber?
Both EPDM rubber and FKM rubber are thermoset elastomers (rubber). There are 7 material properties with values for both materials. Properties with values for just one material (5, in this case) are not shown. For each property being compared, the top bar is EPDM rubber and the bottom bar is FKM rubber.
What is the temperature range for EPDM rubber?
Finding the correct material especially if you are using it for an O-ring seal is important as the rubber can degrade quickly if the material is not compatible with your environment. Mykin Inc’s sulfur-cured RE00170 EPDM compound has a temperature use range of -65°F to +300°F.
