What is GORE-TEX Pac Lite?
GORE-TEX Paclite is a 2-layer GORE-TEX that is constructed to be lightweight, breathable and incredibly minimalistic. GORE-TEX Paclite are some of the lightest, most packable fabrics, ideal for activities that require saving space and weight – like running, hiking or cycling.
What is the difference between GORE-TEX and Gore Tex Active?
It’s the most durable of the Gore-Tex® technologies, and performs best in extreme conditions. Gore-Tex® Active, on the other hand, features the most-breathable fabric in the Gore-Tex® family, and is meant for activities where your heart rate goes up and stays up for an extended amount of time.
Is Gore Tex Active any good?
The Gore-Tex Active fabric is very light and provides superb breathability. However, it doesn’t match the other two types of Gore-Tex fabric when it comes to protection against the elements. The Gore-Tex Active fabric is designed for highly aerobic activities such as running, cycling and cross-country skiing.
What is the difference between GORE-TEX paclite and paclite plus?
GORE-TEX Paclite® Plus The construction is similar to GORE-TEX Active but slightly thicker, more durable and comfortable, ideal for less intense activities. GORE-TEX Paclite® Plus is constructed from two layers that result in a thin and ultralight fabric.
Are there different levels of Gore-Tex?
There are 3 Gore Tex waterproof membranes. Gore-Tex, Gore-Tex Pro & Gore-Tex Active. There is also Gore Infinium, which is windproof, but not waterproof. This article will explain the different constructions and uses of each of the membranes.
How waterproof is Gore-Tex Pro?
As it’s a rebranding of the current membrane it’s still more than tough enough to feature the GORE-TEX PRO name. The waterproof rating holds steady at 28k.

For many years prior to the release of Goretex Active, the de facto lightweight waterproof material was Goretex PacLite. PacLite is/was known for being the lightest form of Goretex, for being more breathable than most other types and for being very easy to rip/tear/wear out. The tightly woven construction features a plain weave with textured false twist fill yarns.
What are the different types of Goretex jackets?
Paclite is sort of a 2.5 layer Gore-tex. It has the outer face fabric, the middle waterproof membrane (the same membrane as C-knit) but the inner liner is a spray on polyurethane coating. It’s not very breathable and not that durable. Paclite jackets are best used as emergency shells, not primary shells.
