In later years, during the Third Shinobi World War, a mercenary group called Akatsuki, led by Yahiko(one of Jiraiya’s students as Hanzo was unaware), caught Hanzo’s attention. Mocking him for his lack of ability to recognize his own downfall, Pain(Nagato’s name in Akatsuki) killed Hanzo with his Shinra Tensei.
