What happened otakon?
History. Otakon 2020 was cancelled due to its venue, the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, being converted to a field hospital to treat COVID-19 patients during the ongoing pandemic.
Is otakon coming back to Baltimore?
Otakon is one of the largest annual conventions Baltimore hosts. By 2017, the convention will move to the Walter E. A return to Baltimore was not ruled out, but organizers said a return would have to wait until upgrades to the Baltimore Convention Center are complete.
Will otakon require masks?
Masks to be required at Otakon 2021 Masks will be required in all convention areas (WEWCC and the Marriott), and vaccination is strongly encouraged for all attendees. We highly recommend that all eligible people are vaccinated if attending Otakon, but we will not be requiring proof of vaccination for entry.
Is Colossalcon East 2020 Cancelled?
Colossalcon East is a three-day convention held during September at the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center in Pocono Manor, Pennsylvania. Colossalcon East 2020 was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Does otakon sell out?
When do I get my tickets? I ordered them online. Otakon does not sell tickets. Otakorp allows you to buy memberships in the organization, which allows us to host a very large meeting every year.
Will otakon happen this year?
Due to the current state of events and complications from COVID-19, Otakon 2020 has officially been canceled. Otakon 2020 was originally scheduled for July 31-August 2, which might seem like a safe time to hold the event. The new dates for the Otakon 2021 are August 6-8, 2021 at the Walter E.

Is Matsuricon Cancelled?
It is with heavy hearts that we must announce the cancellation of Matsuricon 2020. This decision comes after much consideration and conversation between the Board of Directors and our event space.

Welcome to Otakon! Founded in 1994, Otakon is an annual convention held in the summer months to celebrate Asian pop culture (anime, manga, music, movies, video games, etc) and its fandom. The event runs from Friday to Sunday and is packed with a schedule that has tons to do.

The name is a portmanteau derived from convention and the Japanese word otaku . Otakon is run by the Pennsylvania -based non-profit organization Otakorp, Inc. whose primary purpose “is to promote the appreciation of Asian culture, primarily through its media and entertainment”.
How much does it cost to go to Otakon?
Installment payment option is currently unavailable. Regular rate: $95 pre-registration, $100 at the door. Includes admission to Otakon for all three days (Friday/Saturday/Sunday). Children must be accompanied by a registered parent or guardian.
